Biker, driver killed in separate accidents

KUCHING: A 29-year-old motorcyclist died on the spot after he collided with two cars in Lubok Antu on Wednesday. 

Chang Foh Kong from Taman Suria, Jalan Brayun, Sri Aman lost control of his motorcycle in the collision at KM29, Lubok Antu/Sri Aman Road at 2.50pm.

Both drivers, who were heading toward Sri Aman, walked away unscathed. Chang’s remains were brought to the Sri Aman Hospital for a post-mortem.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the case is currently under investigation.

Meanwhile, in Miri a driver was killed when he lost control of the four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle he was driving at KM100 Miri-Bintulu road early yesterday morning.

According to Supt Alexson, the deceased identified as George Isek Denai, 37, succumbed to serious head injuries and died on the spot.

Supt Alexson said George’s passenger, an Indonesian man, 21, sustained minor injuries and was rushed to Batu Niah Clinic.

George, a security guard of an oil palm estate here, was heading to Bintulu from Miri when the accident happened.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the 4WD suddenly careened out of the road and plunged into a ravine. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
