Bintulu Port warns public of group CEO impersonation scam on WhatsApp

BINTULU: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) has alerted the public to an identity fraud case involving its Group chief executive officer (CEO) Ruslan Abdul Ghani on WhatsApp.
 
In a statement posted on Facebook, the company revealed that the fraudulent activity entailed the unauthorised use of Ruslan’s name and image.
 
“We would like to affirm that the number does not belong to our Group CEO.
 
“We take this matter very seriously and are working closely with authorities to investigate the situation.
 
“We have lodged a report to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and police with regard to these instances of misuse,” they said.
 
BPHB urged the stakeholders and the public to be vigilant and refrain from engaging in any suspicious communications with the said number.
 
They are advised to rely solely on BPHB’s official communication channels for information.
 
BPHB reassured stakeholders that safeguarding the security of their communications and maintaining the integrity of their operations remain top priorities.
