MIRI: A bird ensnared in utility wires in Jalan Piasau Utara here has been freed this morning (Feb 17).

Responding to a distress call at 10.04 am, Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel rushed to the scene to aid the bird, which had its leg caught in wires atop a utility pole outside a local residence.

“This morning, one of the house occupants, a 21-year-old, saw the bird struggling on the wires and immediately called up APM for assistance,” it said.

The rescue operation, lasting nearly 30 minutes, was successful in freeing the bird, which was then released back into its natural habitat, unharmed.
