KUCHING: The first Borneo Medical Centre (BMC) Satellite Laboratory here marks a remarkable step forward in healthcare accessibility, said Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.

According to him, the fast results and efficiency offered by BMC Laboratory for health screening are indeed commendable.

“These advancements will undoubtedly make a difference in the lives of our citizens, as our health remains a priority,” he said in his speech during the inauguration of BMC’s 1st Satellite Laboratory in Kuching at GalaCity Commercial Centre here today (Aug 27).

He said that in line with BMC’s commitment to the community’s wellbeing, attractive health packages will be offered to the public.

“Your health is paramount, and these packages will encourage everyone to proactively manage their wellbeing.

“Together, let’s continue to uplift the standards of healthcare accessibility in our city,” he said.

Meanwhile, BMC Kuching chairman Dr John Chew Chee Ming said that BMC’s first satellite laboratory aims to provide efficient, fast, and cost-effective lab tests to complement its clinical facility down the road.

“Both are located strategically on the main artery of Kuching, in medical terms.

“We are also open seven days a week to add to the convenience, and results can be obtained quickly. The specimens collected here are sent for processing in our main laboratory at BMC, which is ISO 15189 certified.

“This is the international quality standard that sets the requirements for quality management, technical processes, and competence in medical laboratories,” he said.

He added that each test result produced in this lab has the potential to change lives, provide early detection of illnesses, and enable timely interventions.

“Waiting for results creates anxiety. No longer will our people, both patients and doctors, have to endure long waiting times for blood test results,” he said.
