KUCHING: Barisan Nasional’s (BN) landslide victory in the Johor state polls is proof of the rakyat’s diminishing trust in Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) ability to govern.

Similar to the Melaka and Sarawak state election, the result came following PH’s failure to give back to the people during its 22-month reign as the federal government, said Santubong MP Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

“And the people are angry with what they (PH) are doing … this matter also affected all the recent elections.

“It is not easy to govern a country. Mere intelligence and wit alone is not enough to govern a country. Thus, the people have accepted the fact that PH does not possess the ability and capability to lead the country,” he said.

He said this at a press conference after attending the Mesra Bersama Rakyat Programme in Kampung Tanjong Bako here on Sunday (Mar 13).

Wan Junaidi, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), added that to govern the country, it requires putting food on the table for the people on top of having a prominent economic prospect and political stability, and not just PH’s strive for reformation alone.

“BN’s victory in the Johor election taught PH to continue learning how to govern the country and it is also proof that the people believe that BN can lead the government.”

During the Johor state polls, BN managed to secure a comfortable victory after obtaining a two-thirds majority.

The  coalition managed to secure victories in 40 of the 56 seats contested.
