Body in suitcase: Woman nabbed

KUCHING: Police have arrested a second suspect to facilitate investigation into the murder of a man, whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase floating in a river at Kampung Pangkalan Baik in Bau last Friday.

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the suspect, a 56-year-old woman would be remanded for seven days until July 28, to facilitate police investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The suspect was arrested at Stanford View here on Saturday.

Also on Saturday, a 28-year-old man was remanded for seven days to facilitate investigation into the case.

The man was placed under custody after he came to the Kuching District Police Headquarters on the night the body was discovered.

He was subsequently arrested following an interrogation. He is believed to be the last person accompanying the victim inside the vehicle before the victim disappeared.

In a related development, it is reported that the deceased has been positively identified by his wife at the Sarawak General Hospital mortuary.

However, police have yet to establish the identity of the deceased.

It is believed that the deceased was the owner of a tailor shop operating at Tun Jugah Mall here.
