TUARAN: Three new attractions have been added to Borneo Ant House, a mini educational theme park located about 7.5 km from here.

Borneo Ant House general manager Suziana Sandhu said the latest attractions — the Bajau Samah and Dusun Lotud traditional houses and zipline extreme game challenge — have enhanced the appeal of Tuaran district’s leading tourist destination.

Visitors need not pay additional fees to enter the Bajau Samah and Dusun Lotud traditional houses, she told Bernama here today.

Borneo Ant House, which began operations on July 1, 2017, boasts, among other things, 618 ant replicas and other attractions reflecting the heritage, culture and nature of Borneo.

“Visitors can enjoy the view from a 75-metre high canopy walk, step into a tree house, explore the mini museum and buy souvenirs.

“Weapons used by head-hunters of the past are among the exhibits in the sword gallery of the mini museum,” she said.

Suziana said befitting its name, Borneo Ant House has also set up a laboratory to do research on ants.

She said one major unique attraction is its underground ant sculpture gallery.

Giant ant sculptures measuring 4.5m long by 2.66m wide and 1.36m tall are part of the attractions at the Borneo Ant House.

Borneo Ant House started with 463 ant replicas but the number has increased to 618, including eight giant sculptures measuring 4.5 metres long, 2.66 metres wide and 1.36 metres high, she said.

“Borneo Ant House has won two awards on ant replicas — Malaysia’s first underground ant sculpture gallery and largest ant replica — from the Malaysia Book of Records,” she said, adding that it has attracted more than 25,000 local and foreign tourists. – Bernama
