KUCHING: Local entrepreneurs are excited to showcase and sell their home-made and best-selling products at the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Ramadan Bazaar in UTC Kuching.

The SEDC Ramadan Bazaar at UTC Kuching is among 12 SEDC Ramadan Bazaars being held from March 12 until April 5th this year. It is held to ease employees in purchasing foods while still be in the vicinity of the office building.

New Sarawak Tribune went to observe the bazaar and found that plenty of customers were buying a variety of foods, drinks, accessories and clothing from 16 stalls operating at the venue.

One of the vendors, 31-year-old Shahera, hoped that her food will attract more customers this Ramadan month.

“I am proud to contribute my part as a vendor here in this Bazaar,” said Shahera adding that her best-selling product is her ‘nasi campur’, alongside some other dishes such as mee kolok, kari kambing, and also desserts.

“One of my legendary products is ‘kuih bongkol’ which was made by my mother-in-law. Every time we sell “kuih bongkol”, it will be the fastest item to be sold out in our stall,” she said, adding that she has been in the business for a decade.

Meanwhile, 45-year-old Nor Hasimah Ali, said she has been in this business for more than a decade.

On every Ramadan she never missed selling her products at the bazaar and this is her second year selling her products at UTC. She added that her best-selling product is the ‘amoi cantik’ which is a beverage filled with fruit flavors, which is quite famous in Sarawak.

“I’ve been selling this dessert for more than 10 years. Every Ramadan I never miss selling my dessert at the bazaar and this is my second year selling my product at UTC.”
