SIBU: Two commercial premises along Jalan Industri Sungai Antu here were engulfed in flames yesterday.
According to a spokesman from the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they received an emergency call around 5pm.
Firemen from Sungai Merah and Sibu central stations were dispatched to the scene shortly after.
Upon arriving, the premises were still engulfed in flames, with the fire believed to have begun in the back.
Extinguishing works commenced but the premises could not be saved as both were completely destroyed.
One of the buildings was said to be a welding shop, while another was a cushion manufacturing company.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the fiery incident.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
