TANJUNG MANIS: A mini petrol station should be set up in Kampung Belawai so that local residents can fill up their petrol or diesel vehicles, said the chairman of the Sarawak Bumiputera Association (PKBM), Datuk Sri Abang Aditajaya Abang Alwi.

He said the opening of a mini station in the area was important.

“We have a station in Tanjung Manis but it’s a bit far away and I’m told there’s a limit on the purchase of gasoline. This has made many residents turn to Sibu for their gasoline.”

“For me, it’s not fair that there is a limit on the purchases of gasoline. For example, if a car can accommodate 30 litres, only 10 litres can be sold to it. For me, that doesn’t make sense,” he said.

Abang Aditajaya was met by the media after voting in the PKR Tanjung Manis Branch election held at the Tanjung Manis PKR office.

He explained that besides Kampung Belawai which had over 4,000 residents, other suitable locations for mini petrol stations were Jerijeh and Rajang villages with over 1,000 residents each.

He said he planned to set up a PKR Office in Kampung Belawai with a hall capable of accommodating 2000 people.

Abang Aditajaya is one of the candidates for the head of branch post and he will be challenged by Dr Raduan Serap.
