KUCHING: Clean air circulation in a children’s ward is one of the most crucial factors in keeping them safe and comfortable during treatment?

The Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) recently donated three units of brand new air purifiers to the Sarawak General Hospital’s Paediatric Oncology Ward.

“Children undergoing cancer treatment are often immunocompromised and are particularly more vulnerable to infections.

“With the donation of air purifiers, we hope to maintain a pleasant environment and enhance the children’s  overall experience during their hospital stay,” the society said in a social media post.

It said the donation would not have been possible if it weren’t for the support from the community.

“Through every sen donated, the community is playing a role in safeguarding young children in their fight against cancer.”

On another note, the society recently held its last staff meeting of the year where executive director Jodie Sim presented the 2024 Annual Plan.

The staff meeting also saw team members reflecting on three key points, namely what they are thankful for, what they have learned and their biggest achievements this year as well as the goals that they have set for 2024.

“We discussed plans we have envisioned that could potentially provide even better care to children.

“The meeting’s objective was to keep the team on track of the society’s missions and values as well as a reminder to the team on ways to achieve even more significant impacts for families dealing with childhood cancer,” the society said.
