Carnival to enhance economies of single mums

KUCHING: Women must understand the importance of being involved in the economic, social and political sectors, said Toh Puan Hayati Ahmat.

According to the Sarawak Single Mother Association’s (PITSA) Board of Trustees member, the organisation’s goal is to further empower women’s roles.

“Therefore, the PITSA Open Day Carnival can undoubtedly assist the single mothers present today.

“The programme also works to enhance women’s economies by providing briefings on digital literacy and e-entrepreneurship.

“Additionally educating single mothers about the presence of government institutions that provide assistance to boost their productivity,” she explained.

She said this today while presiding over the PITSA Open Day Carnival at the Sarawak State Library.

According to her, the platform can also provide opportunities for single mother entrepreneurs to network with one another.

“Through this network, they may share experiences in their field and establish friendships,” he added.

Meanwhile, PITSA President Dayang Noorazlinah Abang Noorzuki said that the initiative will continue.

“In fact, it will be expanded in the near future to include other PITSA branches such as Sibu, Sarikei, Bintulu, Mukah, Dalat, and Daro,” she added.

The carnival which was officiated by Hayati involved various activities, such as briefing programmes on women’s economic empowerment and strengthening as well as product and food sales at the expo site.
