KUCHING: The Catholic Welfare Services Council Sarawak (CWS) is hoping to attract 10,000 runners to take part in this year’s Catholic Services Charity Run.

Archbishop Simon Poh will flag off the run at St Joseph’s Cathedral Kuching on 9 September, 2017.

The 8km category will be flagged off at 6.30am while the 3km category will be flagged off at 7am.

The run aims to raise RM2.5 million for a few charitable bodies including the Home of Peace, Catholic Services Centre, CWS Samaritans, Society of Vincent De Paul, Meals for Urban Poor (through SKUP), Archbishop’s Disaster Relief Fund and rural parishes.

The head of the event’s working committee, Peter Ho, also hopes that members of the public will sponsor drinks and food for the run.

In order to take part in the run, participants are required to collect their sponsor cards from their respective parish offices.

Participants have to raise a minimum of RM80 to be eligible to take part in the run.
