KUCHING: The Teng Bukap community will benefit from the new branch of the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS), scheduled to open in the area.

Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, said that RM5 million from the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) will fund this initiative.

“CENTEXS, under Yayasan Sarawak, will initially operate from the former Padawan sub-district office. We’ve also earmarked a site in Teng Bukap for a permanent CENTEXS facility, aiming for an expedited launch,” said Sagah after officiating the Bidayuh Graduates’ Forum: Thriving Amid AI Disruption at the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) HQ Multipurpose Hall today (Nov 25).

Focusing on modern farming techniques, the new CENTEXS branch aims to harness local expertise.

“Teng Bukap’s potential in Keringkam, guided by local Bidayuh experts involved in CENTEXS’s Keringkam programme at Puncak Borneo Prison, is a primary reason for establishing the branch here,” he added.

He hoped that Yayasan Sarawak will efficiently facilitate the branch campus’s establishment.
