Chariot Festival at Kuching Waterfront on Oct 7

KUCHING: The public can participate and witness the 14th annual Ratha Yathra (Chariot Festival) at the Kuching Waterfront tomorrow (Oct 7).

The festival will see a procession dedicated to Lord Jagannath, Lord Baladev and Lordess Subhadra.

International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Kuching chairman Prabhu Kripa Sindhu Krishna Das said the procession will start at the Kuching Waterfront around 4.30 pm and will end at the same location at 7 pm.

He said the festival will then be followed by a welcoming dance by the ISKCON Kuching Youth and proceed with the presentation of speeches, including one by Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

“The festival will also feature a spiritual discourse delivered by Bhanu Swami Maharaj, a member of the Governing Body Commission of ISKCON and spiritual master,” he told New Sarawak Tribune.

Kripa Sindhu said there will also be an Indian classical dance and the ‘Kirtan’ musical performance.

Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy vegetarian food prepared for the occasion.

Meanwhile, the festival, organised by ISKCON Kuching, is expected to end at around 9 pm.
