SIBU: The Chiang Chuan Association Sibu (CCAS) commemorated its 90th anniversary with a grand dinner reception, themed “Standing for 90 Years and Reaching New Heights Again” at a prominent local hotel here on Sunday.

CCAS chairman Lim Hong Hui highlighted this year as a year of extraordinary significance.

“This year marks the 90th anniversary of CCAS, a historical event for the Chiang Chuan community in Sarawak.

“Our ancestors made indelible contributions to society and the country, shedding tears, blood, and sweat. It’s our duty to uphold their perseverance, inherit their pioneering spirit, and bravely embrace a better future,” Lim said in his speech.

He encouraged the younger generation to remember their ancestors’ struggles and adapt to changing times through reform and innovation.

“To transcend and break through, we must boldly leave behind complacency. This is crucial for the association and the Chinese community’s future,” he added.

Lim also spoke on the importance of adapting traditions to modernity, facing challenges, and building a cooperative bridge between the people and the government.
