Chinese Consulate donates 3,000 face masks to MBKS

KUCHING: The Chinese Consulate here has donated 3,000 face masks to Kuching City South Council (MBKS).

Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the masks were for MBKS frontliners and staff carrying out their duties during the Covid-19 crisis.

“We are very touched and grateful to the Chinese Consulate here.

“We want to express our sincere appreciation and are truly grateful to China’s act of kindness, A friend in need is a friend indeed,” he said in a press conference at the MBKS building yesterday.

In the meantime, he said MBKS would continue to hold a blood donation drive from 9am to 4pm at MBKS Dewan Masyarakat here.

“Since the first day of the blood drive, we managed to collect nearly 300 pints, and we are targeting 50 pints a day.

“Therefore, I urge members of the public during this two-week movement control order, come and donate blood for the Sarawak General Hospital blood bank,” he said.

He assured that the hall was safe as MBKS had taken every precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the public.
