Wee (centre) hands over the project tender to the contractor in charge of the resurfacing project at Chonglin Park Commercial Centre.

KUCHING: The road resurfacing project at Chonglin Park Commercial Centre here will commence next week, said Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.

He said the project that covers the roads around the commercial centre will take about more than two months to be completed.

“The building here was completed in 2001, and there was also sewage system construction that has required most of the road to be dug up. They have resurfaced but turned out it was not a smooth road, more like moving on a train journey.

“So, what we are going to do is, we will be putting up another resurfacing project starting next week and will take about more than two months,” he said during a live press conference after the handing over project to the contractor on his Facebook page today.

He also said the ongoing project later is expected to cause inconvenience to the residents there.

“I hope everyone will give their cooperation, so that the project will go smoothly. Whenever the project is ongoing, do give way for the construction and make sure you are not blocking the way or parking lots,” he said.

He said should there be any inconveniences caused, the residents there may contact MBKS for further action.

“A notice will be given to all shop owner and residents, I hope everyone will cooperate and gives us time to complete it,” he said.
