Man from Kampung Sadir gets jail, RM1k fine for hurting wife

KUCHING: A 29-year old man, who injured his wife, faced four months jail term and fined RM1,000 by the Magistrates’ Court here, on Monday (May 6).

Losion Eddision Lingu, 29, from Kampung Sadir and is unemployed, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A of the same code.

Based on the charges, he is accused of intentionally causing harm towards his 30-year-old wife from Indonesia at a longhouse, in Kampung Sadir, Jalan Puncak Borneo, around 11pm, on April 27, 2024.

Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali ordered the accused to be jailed for a month if he fails to pay the fine.

According to the facts of the case, during the incident, there was an argument between them which was caused by Losion who was not satisfied with his wife for only giving him RM200.

Losion forced his wife to find more money by any means because the money given was not enough.

However, she told Losion that it was embarrassing to borrow money from their neighbour because she did not know how to repay the borrowed money.

As a result of the argument, Losion acted aggressively and punched his wife in the face and kicked her several times on the back and threw a chair at her.

She suffered bruises on the back of the body and her left eye.

Concerned for her safety, the victim came forward to make a police report for action to be taken which then led to Losion’s arrest.

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Ammarsoffi Yusoff prosecuted the case while the accused was not represented by legal counsel.
