KUCHING: St Mark’s Church here is looking to raise RM20 million from the Catholic community and the public for the development of the parish.

The church will organise a series of activities to raise funds, including a fund-raising dinner at the Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre on April 15, followed by a Fun Run on May 1 and St Mark’s Fiesta Sale.

The Fun Run participation cards are now being distributed for fundraising sponsorship collection.

Two categories will be available for the fun run, namely 5km and 3km. Participants are encouraged to raise at least RM100 which will qualify them for a commemorative cap.

Additionally, the church will also issue St Mark’s Pledge forms which allow donors to make monthly contributions over a three-year period.

Meanwhile, Rector of St Mark’s Church and Sacred Heart Church Felix Au, said that the development of the parish entails four phases.

Phase 1 will focus on the construction of the parish office and rectory, Phase 2 will involve the construction of a new four-and-a-half storey classroom block for meetings and Sunday School.
