KUCHING: The Palm Sunday morning mass saw more than 500 church goers flocked into St Thomas’ Cathedral here to celebrate the occasion.

Following this, an English service commenced at around 8.30 am and led by Very Reverend, Kho Thong Meng.

Reverend Canon Roannie Cannidy, Reverend Canon Alfred Damu, along with a group of choir and servers also led the Palm Sunday procession, accompanied by hymns.

During the two-hour mass, church congregants were also seen distributing the crosses made out of palm leaves.

After the conclusion of the service, Reverend Alfred reflected on the significance of the procession, describing it as a joyous symbol of celebration and a victorious reminder of the traditional understanding of Palm Sunday.

“It is a way to recall the welcoming of Lord Jesus to Jerusalem, the carrying of palm branches imitates that sacred moment,” he said.

Palm Sunday, which is also referred to as Passion Sunday, signifies the beginning of Holy Week.
