LUNDU: Civil servants must provide better and more efficient services to the people across the state to fulfill Sarawak Premier’s vision.

Acting State Secretary Datuk Seri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said as the capacity of public services is increasing, there is a need to improve service delivery to the people and support the implementation of an efficient and effective economic and social development to the people.

He also said that there are 41 projects involving new administration buildings and government quarters at the district and sub-district levels to improve public services.

“These 41 projects which cost RM1.5 billion have been approved by the state government and are under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

“The new Sarawak Government Administrative Centre Lundu District is one of the projects that will be implemented, and we are thankful to the Premier for looking after the welfare of the civil service members.

“With new government quarters, we hope that our civil servants can live comfortable as well as serve the people better when it is completed,” said Abu Bakar.

He said this in his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Sarawak Government Administrative Centre Lundu District, yesterday (June 11).

In addition, Abu Bakar mentioned the new state administrative building can also be served as an administrative complex as it could house state and federal agency offices for more services.

“Agencies from state and federal government can be placed in the new building as it will be easier for the people in the district to seek public services.

“This is so that people will not be burdened by travelling to the city centre to sort out their matters,” he stated.
