KUCHING: Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has decided to extend the implementation of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) in the state.

This will be from 12.01am on March 16 until 11.59pm on March 29.

SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the extension was necessary since the number of positive cases in the state is still high.

“There are some changes in the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the implementation of CMCO.

“It will be announced tomorrow or the next day after it has been gazetted,” he said when speaking at a daily Covid-19 press conference today.

On the same day, Uggah also announced the end of the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in Phase 2 of Sentosa Resettlement Scheme area in Sibu.

“The committee has decided to end the implementation of Emco in the area after there was no new positive case reported from the second screening results.

“Apart from that, there is no evidence which shows that the Covid-19 infection is still spreading in the area,” he added.
