CMIEA 2017 to attract 20 companies

KUCHING: A total of 20 companies from small, medium and large categories are to participate in the Sarawak Chief Minister’s Industry Excellence Award (CMIEA) 2017.

According to Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Abang Openg, through Sarawak CMIES 2017, it would help to spread the Business Excellence (BE) concept to various organisations throughout Sarawak.

“The Sarawak CMIES 2017 is expected to identify the best practices that have contributed to the companies excellence, that have contributed to the State economic development.

“The participation from various companies in the State shows the spirit and their companies vision towards success and excellence, and this award is also part of the journey towards business excellence for the companies,” said Karim during the press conference held at Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) building, Jalan Bako, yesterday.

He added, the company will be assessed using the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework (MBEF) which is the same criteria used for the Industrial Excellence Award (AKI).

Karim also noted that the CMIEA 2017 award will be based on the score for every category selected for the winner.

“From each category, the winner will be selected for the Bronze, Silver and Gold award,” he said.

The award giving ceremony for CMIEA 2017 will be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on September 8, 2017 and will be presented by the Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Open.

On another matter, MPC will also organise the Business Excellence (BE) Seminar and Forum Wilayah Sarawak 2017.

The event will be held at BCCK on August 23, 2017, from 8.30am to 4.30pm, and the fee is RM159.

The seminar and forum will bring experts from various organisations who are willing to share their experience on embarking the journey to business excellence.

Apart from that, MPC is also organising a Business Excellence Workshop for Senior Management with the theme ‘Developing a Sustainable Organisation’ and it will be held on 13 to 16 November 2017 at Damai Beach Resort, Kuching.
