KUCHING: Former Kalaka assemblyman Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz say the Sarawak government needs commitment from Ketua Masyarakat (KM) and Ketua Kaum (KK) or community leaders and tribal chiefs, especially in spreading the state’s development policy.

However, he said KMKKs needed to manage their communities according to the guidelines provided by government agencies.

“This is important so that you, as a grassroots representative of the community, can become an effective and respected entity.

“For that reason, KMKKs should hold meetings about activities that can benefit the communities in addition to providing reports as written evidence to the District Office.

“Besides that, they should explain the use of expenses from government agencies as evidence of transparency and integrity as leaders in their respective areas.

“I hope that KMKKs can carry out their duties with dedication in order to further prosper the development process of the state.”

Abdul Wahab was representing Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri at a dinner in conjunction with the visit of KMKK Bintulu District to Saratok on Thursday (Dec 15).
