SIBU: The newly launched Persatuan Jawatankuasa Pembangunan Kawasan (JPK) Jalan Dijih Maga was given the responsibility of identifying land to be used as cemetery ground for its residents as their first task.

Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang disclosed this when responding to Penghulu Christopher Chat who had requested for a new cemetery site as the current one was too far and almost fully filled up.

“One of my challenges for the association is to find empty land for the new cemetery. I am willing to help you, not only the residents of Dijih Maga but also in Sekuau and Tamin in general.

“As long as there is land, I am willing to help all of you by allocating my Rural Transformation Project (RTP) fund so that this plan can be implemented,” he said in his speech when officiating at the launching of the association on Saturday (Oct 15).

Meanwhile on the event, Gira urged that more such associations be established in his constituency as it could help him to easily reach the people and attend to their needs.

“This association has a good objective which is to help ensure better development for the area under the supervision of Penghulu (Christopher Chat) as chairman.

“So far there are only two associations which are this JPK and the village security and development committee (MJKKK) Sekuau. Hence, I hope that this association will be able to achieve its objectives and ensure that the Dijih Maga area is developed,” he said.

Gira also allocated funds totalling RM30,000 for JPK Jalan Dijih Maga to carry out its activities and programmes.

Among those present were Selangau district officer Inting Nyami, JPK Jalan Dijih Maga chairman Penghulu Christopher Chat, former Tamin assemblyman Datuk Joseph Mauh Ikeh.
