PUSA: Several projects categorised as physically completed but still unable to be used in the Beting Maro constituency are related to electricity connections.

This includes the newly built building of SK Kalok, which is in its final implementation stage.

Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor hopes that Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) will give serious attention to this issue so that several premises that are ready can operate for the benefit of the people.

“The construction project of 12 new classrooms and six units (teacher hostel and other facilities) of SK Kalok worth RM21,230,061, which began on Sept 1, 2020, should have been completed by the end of last year, but there are some issues related to SEB.

“Moreover, there are several other projects that are experiencing the same issue – completed but cannot be operating, such as economic centres, coconut collection centres in Spinang, Batang Maro, and ‘gula apong’ collection centres, all related to electricity issues.

“Therefore, I hope that the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) can help us expedite the power supply connection so that government-built premises can be utilised by the people,” he said.

He said this to the media after the Pusa district committee meeting chaired by Pusa district officer Bujang Ladi here yesterday.

He acknowledged many “problematic” projects, one of which is contractor failure.

“Meanwhile, there are also projects that did not obtain Occupancy Permit (OP) even though they are physically completed, such as the Beladin police station, fishermen relocation projects, and fish landing projects.

“Other factors are due to land acquisition issues, such as sports arena projects.

“Moreover, some of them are due to the change of government in 2018, such as the coastal erosion prevention project in Kampung Semarang and the Pusa – Batang Maro, Paloh and Perpat road construction projects.

“Therefore, we will propose these projects to be looked into. I sincerely hope that the process of resolving these ‘sick’ projects can be completed soon so that they can be implemented,” he said.

The meeting also focused on poverty eradication.

Razaili hopes that the targeted groups in his constituency will benefit from poverty eradication programmes through the new module of the unity government.
