Construction commences for commercial development in Simunjan

SIMUNJAN: The construction for a food court, industrial cottages, local market and infrastructure works in Block 8 of the Sedilu-Gedong District area, Simunjan, Samarahan has commenced recently and is slated for completion within the second quarter of 2025.

According to the Land Customary and Development Authority (LCDA), the project carries an estimated cost of RM16.3mil and forms a significant part of the commercial development in Simunjan under Package A.

“Package A encompasses the construction of a single-storey food court lot, industrial cottages, and local market, featuring 10 food stalls, 12 industrial cottages, and 31 wet market stalls, toilets (male and female), among others,” LCDA stated.

Infrastructure works such as roads, drains and electrical stations are also included in this package.

LCDA further revealed plans for Package B, which will involve the construction of 10 two-storey shop houses and 10 two-storey mini shops, scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of this year.

Additionally, LCDA disclosed ongoing efforts in housing development projects and a multipurpose hall, currently in the final design stage for approval.

Spanning an area of 8.68 acres, the housing development project will consist of 31 individual houses, a multipurpose hall, and associated infrastructure works.

“This project will serve as a catalyst for Simunjan town’s development, stimulating economic activities and providing local entrepreneurs with opportunities to own business premises.”

The handover for the project was witnessed by Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee and Simunjan assemblyman Alwa Idris, alongside officials from LCDA, Simunjan District Council and other stakeholders, including Simunjan District Council secretary Mohd Rizal Zakaria, Simunjan district officer representative Mohd Raili Jawawi, and LCDA staff.
