MIRI: A team of Marine Police Region Five has confiscated a total of 710 cartons of contraband Guinness Stout worth RM 136,320 in a raid codenamed ‘Ops Kontraban’ from two lorries on Tuesday.

According to Miri Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the lorries were stopped at two separate locations around 11 am.

“The first lorry was stopped at Jalan Miri By-pass, while the second one near a traffic light at Jalan Bakam,” he said in a statement.

Upon further inspection, the police found 345 cartons of stout inside the first lorry, and 365 cartons from the second lorry.

Both drivers had failed to produce any documents or permits from the Sarawak Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM).
