MIRI: Police arrested a 45-year-old man for possessing drugs in a house at Kampung Baru Subis, Jalan Miri-Bintulu on Monday (Aug 16).
Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said a team from the Miri Narcotics Criminal Department raided the house at 12.15pm and found a transparent plastic packet and 104 straw tubes containing crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine.
“The drugs, weighing 51g, are worth RM5,100.
“The man was tested positive for methamphetamine and was detained under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provides for the mandatory death sentence upon conviction,” Hakemal said.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days until August 24 for further investigation.
The case is also being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
