KUCHING: Four local suspects who assaulted an assemblyman on Tuesday (May 30) at the roadside of Tabuan Jaya’s residence are on the hunt.

According to a statement by Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri, the said assemblyman reported that the attack occurred at 9.06pm on that day after he saw the suspects’ suspicious act and scolded them in the said area.

“One of the suspects was displeased with the admonishment and attacked the assemblyman, resulting in injuries such as scratches and pain at the back of the victim’s body.

“We are investigating the case under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 506 of the same Code for criminal intimidation,” he said.

With the ongoing investigation, Mohd Azman appealed to the public not to engage in any speculation on the case.

The police also called on the public with any information related to the incident to relay it to any nearby police station or contact case investigating officer ASP Rathna Borhan on 019-8176267.
