Cops seek witnesses in Miri hit-and-run

MIRI: Police are looking for witnesses to facilitate investigation into a hit-and-run accident that happened along Jalan Desa Senadin 1 here on Tuesday night (Sept 19).

The accident resulted in injuries to a 60-year-old man, who was on his way home after a jog when an unknown vehicle struck him.

The driver callously fled the scene without providing assistance to the victim.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said they received a report regarding the accident at 7.08 pm the same night.

“The victim was found unconscious in the middle of the road by passers-by. He sustained bodily injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Miri Hospital,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
