MIRI: Six spotlights installed around a field at Jalan Padang will make it possible for local footballers to play or train late in the evening or at night.

These lights installed using Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting’s Rural Transformation project 2020 (RTP) fund costed RM120,000.

Ting, who is also Piasau assemblyman, said yesterday (March 29) after visiting the field that the installation of the 10-foot-high light poles and lights took about four months to complete.

During the visit, he was accompanied by Miri Football Association president Nazri Datuk Ahmad Lai.

The project has definitely solved the problem of lack of lighting at the field which belongs to Miri City Council.

As such, Nazri praised Ting for having set aside a huge allocation for the projects which would not only benefit footballers, but also others who use the field for different purposes.

“Miri FA will be able to carry out more training sessions of its player in the evening,” he said.

Before the spotlights were fixed, Miri FC conducted its training sessions at the local National Youth Training Institute (IKBN) or Miri Stadium.
