KUCHING: A staff member of Kuching City South Council (MBKS) has been arrested and detained on allegation of having molested a seven-year-old boy last week.

The 55-year-old, who was arrested on Saturday afternoon, has been remanded to find out if he also had committed other unnatural sexual offences.

The boy was physically and sexually assaulted in a toilet near the ground-floor lobby of the MBKS building on Thursday afternoon in front of his two friends who are also seven years old.

The mother of the victim reported that during that afternoon, she was called by a principal from a tuition centre to tell her that her son had been assaulted.

She rushed to the council building and was told by the son that an unknown man hit his penis a few times before throwing him down on the toilet floor.

The friends who witnessed the assault were too scared to call for help.

When MBKS security viewed their CCTV footage they saw that the suspect was a staff member of the council’s public health division.

The victim was taken to a private hospital for examination as he complained of pain in his penis and his left palm was injured.

A police report was lodged after that.

Sarawak Head of CID SAC Denis Leong confirmed the case. He said police will investigate and ensured a thorough investigation.
