KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) recovery movement control order (RMCO) taskforce will not hesitate to take stern actions against RMCO violators.

MPP chairman, Lo Khere Chiang said the RMCO taskforce comprised MPP, police, Rela, Civil Defence Force (APM) and Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) personnel. It would continue to carry out spot checks from time to time to ensure optimum compliance with the RMCO standard operating procedures (SOPs) by all business operators.

“All business owners are reminded to observe and comply with the RMCO SOPs.

“Members of the public are also reminded to comply with the SOPs by cooperating with the business owners,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (June 16).

Lo pointed out that the people had a choice of not   patronising any premises found not complying with the SOPs.

“This is in order to stay safe always not only for themselves but for the well-being and safety of their own families. Together, we fight Covid-19,” he added.

Meanwhile Lo, who is also Batu Kitang assemblyman, said MPP had been assisting the Health Department in enforcing the smoking ban at eateries throughout the MCO.

During the RMCO, two offenders were compounded during the joint operation between Kuching Divisional Health Department and MPP, he said.

“During the RMCO last Thursday, Kuching Divisional Health Department, assisted by MPP, compounded each of the two offenders RM500   under the Control of Tobacco Products (Amendment) Regulations 2018,” he added.
