LUNDU: Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri has rued the constant debating on politics during parliament sessions.

Stating that this does not bring any benefit to the rakyat she said it would be more beneficial to propose development plans during these sittings.

That is why, she said, she was grateful that Sarawak MPs debate solely on development in the state and do not participate in debates that are of no help to the rakyat.

“Our focus is more on development which benefits the state and the people. Because of our focus, the Sarawak government is now an example to other states, especially in Peninsular Malaysia

“And as the representatives, we are grateful that the people in the state always give solid support to the government,” she said when she attended Tanjong Datu Family Day here Saturday (Nov 11).

She commended the programme as it fosters community unity and cooperation here regardless of race, religion and age.

“Moreover, organising a family day like this can create a stronger family bond with each other and the surrounding community.

“So today’s programme is a sign of love, togetherness and concern in the community. In this life which is full of challenges, we often forget the importance of taking a moment to appreciate family values,” she said.
