KUCHING: Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) is certainly in deep trouble as it is facing an implosion and domestic rebellion, says political observer Datuk Peter Minos.

He was referring to the recent resignation of Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei and some Dayak members from the party.

He said that anyone in Sarawak could clearly see DAP’s ways and tactics as well as its past performance while being in the federal government for 22 months.

“DAP is very fond of purposely digging dirt, finding faults of others and concocting stories no matter how silly and flimsy just to hit and spite their opponents.

“The party also hit and attack without thinking of the offence it caused on others and giving no quarters.

“This may be one of the factors resulting to Wong’s resignation after the party attacked a reputable and respected Sarawak Chinese business leader who was merely proffering an opinion,” he said on Monday (July 27).

Minos also said that Sarawak DAP had made many pledges and promises in the 2018 General Election but when they actually got into power, the party had not only broken all of its promises but acting as if the promises were nothing and of no consequences.

“Bluffing and fooling the people to be elected in office is a very bad political way and culture. People and voters do not like to be openly and deliberately lied to. They in fact deeply resent it.

“I think Wong was displeased and very unhappy of this behaviour of the party. I also have the feeling that many others in DAP felt the same way but fearful of voicing things out,” he pointed out.

Minos further described DAP leaders as known to be not easy and tolerant with dissenting ideas. The party, he said, often used sledgehammers on those members who dissent or disagree on anything.

“It is a ‘no-mercy’ and ‘no-forgiving’ styles in DAP. Now, the party is paying the price for such styles and way on its own members.

“After Wong’s resignation, we can expect an exodus from the party. Those unhappy and bitter members will just leave and vamoose.

“As I look forward, Sarawak DAP’s eventual demise is coming unless the party makes changes and amends soonest,” he said.
