LIMBANG: Two students found themselves in the grasp of the law for pulling off a daring motorcycle heist in town here last Sunday (July 27).

Guided by shrewd insights by Limbang Criminal Investigation Division (CID), the police arrested the boys aged 12 and 14, and recovered a motorcycle that had been reported missing on July 25.

Limbang police chief Supt Parum Niot said the audacious crime unfolded behind a building near the Limbang night market along Jalan Wayang.

“A 79-year-old man (victim) had left his motorcycle unattended with the keys on the ignition while he went to a nearby store.

“Noticing the easy opportunity, the boys took advantage of the victim’s negligence and swiftly ran off with the motorcycle,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for motor vehicle theft, which carries up to seven years’ imprisonment and a fine, if convicted.

Parum advised the public to be more watchful of their vehicles and not to be negligent by leaving the keys in the vehicle even for a moment.
