Daro Festival sets to draw big crowds

KUCHING: The iconic Daro Festival is set to captivate the public again from Sept 25 to Oct 3.

Daro assemblymen Safiee Ahmad said that this edition of the Daro Festival is expected to be even more captivating and festive.

“Visitor numbers are estimated to be around 95,000 people throughout the duration of the festival.

“In addition, 145 various types of stalls will be available for the visitors,” he said during the Daro Festival 2023 Preparation Coordination Meeting, held recently.

According to him, since 2011, the festival was known as the Terubok Festival and was rebranded as the Daro Festival in 2018.

As a result, he noted that this year’s festival content is more captivating, and the programmes involve every strata of the community.

“It comprises nine categories encompassing a total of 39 programmes.

“Some of these programme categories include community, arts and culture, tourism and education, entrepreneurial development, as well as sports and recreational stalls.

“Furthermore, there are programmes dedicated to economic development and entrepreneurship, folk stages, joint agency and community programmes, and leader with people joint programme,” he explained.

At the same time, he invited the public to come and enliven the Daro Festival, which will provide a variety of interesting and entertaining programmes, as well as shopping opportunities during the event.

He added that the highlight of the festival will be on Sept 3 at 10 am and it will be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
