Deputy minister visits EM Hornbill

KUCHING: Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development (M-FICORD), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, recently visited the Feed Meal Factory and Hatcheries of EM Hornbill Sdn Bhd in Telaga Air.

Also present during the visit were Deputy Director of the Livestock Development and Commodity Division of the Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak (DVS), Dr Sajem Jinim; Deputy Director of the Inland Fisheries Division of the Department of Agriculture (DOA), Fakhruddin Bokhari; Deputy Director of the Agricultural Engineering Division of DOA, Chang Tun Hua; and Managing Director of EM Hornbill Sdn Bhd, Shukardi Saufie.

According to a statement from the ministry, EM Hornbill is a local company involved in the production of prebiotic feed for chickens, using local maize and groundnuts as primary ingredients.

The company also engages in breeding village chickens of the Ayam Saga breed, a result of the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute’s (MARDI) first research in Sarawak.

EM Hornbill aims to be a leading company in the cultivation of maize and groundnuts, as well as in the breeding of Ayam Saga village chickens.
