BETONG: The Covid-19 pandemic and movement control order (MCO) have no impact on the costs of development projects in the state, said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“There is no impact on the cost because we only stopped the construction projects for three months.
“However, there is, of course, an impact in terms of the construction schedule. A slight delay-lah,” he told reporters after his walkabout at Sungai Krian Bridge and Batang Saribas Bridge construction sites here on Thursday.
Despite such circumstances, Abang Johari explained that once the projects resumed operation during the recovery movement control order (RMCO) period, the economic sector would open up in stages and stimulate the economy of the people, especially in the rural areas.
He elaborated that all the supply chain would restart operation again and thus, people would start going to work and continue their lives as usual.
“For the long term, I have established Sarawak Economic Action Council (SEAC) to observe the direction of the state’s economy after the crisis,” he said.
