Digital Media Awards Asia 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: The Digital Media Awards Asia 2024 held here today recognises news agencies and media outlets that promote the use of digital media strategies together with the transition from traditional media to online platforms.

This year’s awards ceremony, organised by the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), received 136 entries from various news agencies and media outlets in the Asian region, including Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

The event is part of the two-day Digital Media Asia Conference that began yesterday.

Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, who attended the event, also presented several awards, including for the Best News Website, Best Lifestyle Site and Best Use of Video categories.

The event also saw the Astro AWANI news channel clinching three awards – winner of the small and medium-sized media category for the Best Lifestyle Site award through its coverage of the Asian Cup Qatar 2023; the Best Fact-Checking Project award for the ‘AI-Powered Fact-Checking Lab’ project; and the Best Use of AI in the Newsroom award for the ‘Tanya AI’ programme.

Meanwhile, Sinar Karangkraf Sdn Bhd through the Sinar Daily portal bagged the Best News Website award in the small and medium-sized media category, while Star Media Group Berhad emerged as the silver winner for the Best Use of AI in Revenue Strategy award through its ‘RHB #JomSapot BeliLokal Gen-AI Led Integrated Marketing Campaign’ initiative. – BERNAMA
