Dilapidated SMK Sebuyau needs full replacement

SEBUYAU: The Sebuyau Government Secondary School (SMK Sebuyau) which is in a very decrepit condition needs a full replacement to ensure that the children can study in a conducive environment.

Member of Parliament for Batang Lupar Mohamad Shafizan Kepli said this is also the insistence from the Sebuyau assemblyman who is also the Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

“I am aware of the condition of SMK Sebuyau which is very dilapidated and needs a new school with a full replacement project.

“God willing, I will extend Sebuyau assemblyman’s insistence and I will list that matter in the oral question and answer session in the Dewan Rakyat for the attention of the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE).

“Our hope is that there will be a positive and happy response for the school in particular and the people of Sebuyau in general,” he said when asked after the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Haji Bujang Sebangan which was officiated at by Julaihi.

To help schools in the Batang Lupar parliamentary area, he approved the allocation of RM10,000 each to secondary schools, while RM5,000 each was given to SK or Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC).

Mohamad Shafizan receives a souvenir from the school as a sign of appreciation for attending the Al-Quran Khatam Majlis at SK Haji Bujang Sebangan.

“So far I have announced for Beting Maro state legislative assembly involving two secondary schools and nine primary schools (SK and SJKC).

“Other than that, the same allocation was given to one SMK and 19 SK or SJKC in Sebuyau area.

“God willing, schools in Lingga state legislative assembly area such as SMK Lingga, SK Pulau Seduku, SK Sembahyang, SK Saint Dunstan, SK Lela Pahlawan Lingga, SJK Chung Hua Lingga, SK Maludam, SJKC Chung Hua Maludam and SK Gran Stumbin will receive similar allocations and I hope it can be used as best as possible to help the school organise activities,” he said.

Shafizan congratulated the 38 children who participated in the khatam al-Quran programme.

“My advice, this khatam is not the end of reading the Quran, but rather should be considered as the beginning of practising the kalam of Allah SWT in daily life.

“Congratulations and well done to the parents too as children are like white cloth and we (parents) are the ones who pattern them since childhood.

“Good luck to the children of Batang Lupar,” he added.
