Don’t be misled by Opposition, rep tells Demak Laut youths

KUCHING: Youths in the Demak Laut constituency are advised to act rationally and not be easily deceived by the Opposition’s perceptions, especially with regard to development at the village level.

Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government always prioritised continuous development at the village level.

This, he said, was done through the implementation of state government infrastructure projects, Spektra housing project, Rural Transformation Projects (RTPs), minor rural projects (MRPs), people’s projects, and Program Penambahbaikan Rumah Rakyat Miskin Sarawak (PPRMS), as well as various other welfare programmes.

“Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and GPS always prioritise the rights of the people of Sarawak in providing infrastructure facilities such as public and basic facilities.

“PBB-GPS not only works during the election season or today, but instead has been working all the time as soon as it was given the mandate to govern the state – unlike the Opposition which only appear with the approaching election by making various promises which may not necessarily be able to be fulfilled,” he said.

According to a Facebook post on Monday (July 20), he said this when chairing a Demak Laut PBB Youth Wing meeting at a hotel recently.

“In fact, almost all villages in the Demak Laut constituency have public and basic facilities covering the needs of the youths, women, and local community,” said Dr Hazland.

He added that the Demak Laut PBB Youth Wing needed to utilise social media as a powerful new weapon in combating the Opposition’s accusations (tohmahan) on social media.

“In the lead up to the election, the Opposition always tries to poison the minds of the people by spreading fake news and creating perceptions to tarnish PBB and the government of the day,” he said.

He said that with this, the Demak Laut PBB Youth Wing needed to have the right information and facts to repel the accusations.

“Through social media, the community will get the right facts and then know that the Opposition’s tactics are only to confuse the people,” he said.

The meeting was attended by the heads of all PBB Youth sub-branches in the Demak Laut constituency.
