KABONG: The Community Development Department (KEMAS) expects rural residents to seize the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills provided by the agency through classes opened in villages.

According to KEMAS Betong Division officer Jeffry Lana, shyness should be set aside when seeking information.

“Therefore, there is no need to feel ashamed or shy about seeking knowledge and skills.

“We need to seize the opportunities that are in front of our eyes, not only to the extent of filling our spare time but to be able to increase our income.

“In that regard, with the existence of KEMAS skill classes in the villages, it actually opens up opportunities for interested residents,” he said during his inaugural working visit to Saratok Parliamentary constituency KEMAS near here, today.

He explained that KEMAS always hoped that there would be participation from the community.

“For example, the people who live in Kampung Sungai Endot. Don’t miss the opportunity,” he added.

Apart from sewing classes, KEMAS also provides cooking and composition classes led by trained instructors.

Since he reported for duty at KEMAS Betong Division last June 8, this visit was Jeffry’s first to Saratok Parliamentary constituency KEMAS.

Earlier, he visited a nursery and participated in a Sewing Class Promotion programme in Kampung Sungai Endot.

On the same occasion, Jeffry spent some time with KEMAS Saratok staff and the participants present at the programme.

He hoped that this class could operate well in addition to the involvement of more residents.
