KUCHING: Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian has advised Sarawakians not to visit countries affected by Covid-19 such as South Korea, China, Iran, and Italy at this time.
He said that the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) was monitoring the outbreak situation in other countries.
Citing the latest information from JPBN, he said that foreigners who had visited South Korea in the past 14 days would be denied entry into the state.
“Sarawakians who have been to South Korea in the past 14 days must have compulsory self-quarantine for 14 days,” he said.
Sim, who is also Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president, was speaking at the Padungan Night dinner organised by SUPP Kuching Branch at Crown Imperial Hall, Crown Square here on Friday (February 28).
Meanwhile, he stressed, “Foreigners who have been to China within the past 14 days will continue to be denied entry into Sarawak.”
He said that Sarawak had to be well taken care of with regard to Covid-19 precautionary measures.
“If coronavirus enters Sarawak through just one person, it could spread,” he warned.
