Dr Jeniri appointed as Unimas’ adjunct professor

KUCHING: Dr Jeniri Amir has been appointed as adjunct professor of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Faculty of Language and Communication.

He was informed of his two-year appointment from Sep 1 this year until Aug 31, 2023 through an official letter sent by the university vice chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi.

With the appointment, Jeniri will be conducting teaching and learning activities, seminars and other related topics to students, staff and stakeholders as well as providing views, advices and suggestions in strategic planning and faculty management. He will also be performing other tasks from time to time.

Jeniri is also the chief executive officer of Suara Sarawak, New Sarawak Tribune and SV News Sdn Bhd. 

The Unimas’ former associate professor is not only active in research and consultancy at the university but is also a senior fellow of the Malaysian Council of Professors and a member of the National Unity Ministry think-tank group.

Obtaining his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in political communication from the University of Malaya in 2008, Jeniri is well known as an academician, political analyst, prolific writer and columnist.

Apart from being a columnist for Berita Harian, SarawakVoice, Malaysiakini, Dewan Bahasa, Sarawak Update and Sarawak Review, he is also often invited to conduct workshops on book writing and to write articles and speeches by various parties.

Jeniri has also written over 3,000 articles and analyzes as well as more than 50 book titles published in various newspapers and magazines in the country.

Among his books are Interview Techniques, Make Money By Writing, Writing a Biography, Rosli Dhoby: Merdeka With Blood, Datu Bandar Abang Mustapha: Freedom Fighter for the Independence of Sarawak and Melanau in Sarawak.

He is among the country’s leading political analysts and is widely featured on various television channels such as Astro Awani, TV1, TV3, Bernama TV as well as Channel News Asia in Singapore  besides being quoted by various media in the country.

In addition, Jeniri is also the recipient of the Kenyalang Book Award 2016, National Book Award 2014, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak Scholarly Book Award 2014 and Sarawak Prolific Writer Award 1993.
