Dr Sim and wife join Chinese New Year merriment in Sibu

SIBU: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and his wife, Datin Amar Enn Ong Siok Ean, attended several Chinese New Year (CNY) open houses here on Wednesday (Feb 14).

They began the day with a visit to the president of Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference (SCAC), Methodist Church, Dr Lau Hui Ming, in Jalan Lily.

Among those present were Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Dudong chairman Wong Ching Yong, and others.

Dr Sim and his wife later accompanied Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, to several CNY open houses.

Among them were Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee’s house in Jalan Terap, Hock Peng managing director Datuk Toh Chiew Hock’s house in Jalan Lanang, and Ta Ann Holdings Berhad chief executive officer Datuk K.H Wong’s house in Jalan Sena.

The delegation also visited Sibu Municipal Council chairman Clarence Ting’s house in Jalan Beruang and Chieng’s house in Jalan Rejang Park.

Once they completed their visit with Abang Johari, Dr Sim and his wife proceeded visited Catholic Bishop of Sibu Right Reverend Joseph Hii at his residence at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Finally, Dr Sim and his wife concluded their series of CNY visits with a stop at Bawang Assan SUPP chairman Robert Lau’s house in Jalan Salim.
