KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian has called upon the people to uphold unity and harmony to ensure the effective implementation of the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

Highlighting one of the main objectives of the PCDS 2030, he stressed the necessity of achieving a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of RM282bil by 2030.

“We only have six more years to achieve the RM282bil GDP target. Achieving this will not only enhance Sarawak’s income status but also elevate the income of every household,”

“Hence, to achieve this, it is very important for us to remain united, as no obstacle should hinder our pursuit of prosperity, inclusivity and environmental sustainability by 2030,” he said in his Hari Raya Aidilfitri message.

Dr Sim, who is also the Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, said Sarawak is currently at a crucial juncture of nation-building, with efforts directed towards fostering economic growth for substantial development.

“This commitment is evident through Sarawak’s initiative to offer free higher education at state-owned universities by 2026, alongside aspirations for autonomy in health and education.

“We also hope to get education and health autonomy from the federal government because we want to do more for the people of Sarawak.”
