KUCHING: A drug addict was sentenced to seven months in prison by the Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (April 4) for injuring his 77-year-old father-in-law.

Junli Nosey, 51, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 326A of the same Code.

According to the charge, he committed the offence at their home in Taman Desa Wira, around 8.30pm, last Feb 3.

Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan ordered the accused to serve the prison sentence starting Thursday.

During the incident, the complainant, the accused’s 46-year-old wife, had an argument with her husband for refusing to give him RM50.

The victim and his brother-in-law reprimanded the accused for frequently asking for money from the complainant and refusing to work.

The accused became angry and tried to enter the house but was stopped by his brother-in-law, resulting in a scuffle between them.

The victim then attempted to break up the fight but was pushed by the accused against the main door, injuring his hand.
